James Gunn is confident in the second season of "Peacemaker", in the development of a spin-off of "Suicide Squad"

James Gunn spoke about his projects in the DC Universe. It seems that the second season of "Peacemaker" is a matter of time. But the spin-off "Suicide Squad" is already in the early stages of production.

"Peacemaker" tells the story of John Cena's character from the recent Suicide Squad. The hero joins a new team to once again save the world from parasitic butterflies that take over the minds of people.

During the Deadline Hero Nation podcast, James Gunn was asked about the second season of The Peacemaker, to which he replied:

The probability is quite high. The show is a success, it intrigues us. We all love our job, so we need to cross some T's and dot some I's. Which is my point.

Regarding the other project, Gann reported:

We are currently working on something else. Another TV show that is connected to this universe.

Deadline reports that, according to sources, Gunn pitched an idea to HBO Max for a series centered on another Suicide Squad character. It is said that right now he is passionate about the project, which is in the very early stages of development.

Gunn added:

I can not say anything. The project is connected with this universe. I don't think it will be in the same genre as The Peacemaker. Not as much of a comedy as The Peacemaker. But in the same universe.

Recall that the director is also working with the Marvel universe on Guardians of the Galaxy 3, which, as he stated in the same interview, will be the last film for this cast of actors.

The Peacemaker TV show continues to air weekly on Fridays on HBO Max (yesterday, for example, the fifth episode was released, when there will be 8 in total), while Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is scheduled to premiere on May 5, 2023.
