Parker Hartzler worked on animations for Hogwarts Legacy. He did not like JK Rowling's statements about the existence of only two sexes, and he decided to boycott the game.

“Here I am in the credits of Hogwarts Legacy: this is the second big-budget game that I have been in the credits of. I was a technician on the set and assisted the actors involved in the recording of the animations. I won't buy the game - it's the least I can do."

However, some began to criticize Hartzler for taking part in the project and earning money. Parker refers to the financial situation.

“So you waited until you were paid and then complained about a game you were heavily involved in developing? I'm sorry, but I'm not going to scratch your ego and say that this is not hypocrisy, because it is 100% it. You could refuse to work on the game, the phrase "capitalism is hell" is not an excuse" - d_egausser.

The action was highly appreciated by gamers and journalists. On Metacritic, the game received a Metacritic score of 83 out of 100 from media, and 8.4 out of 10 from gamers.
