Sony has contacted US providers, including Xfinity, with a complaint about users who downloaded a working demo of Marvel's Wolverine. Provider Xfinity has started sending warning letters to gamers, urging them to delete game files as it violates the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If the requirement is ignored, the provider may suspend or terminate user accounts.
A working demo of Marvel's Wolverine was illegally distributed as a result of the hacker group Rhysida hacking Insomniac Games in mid-December. Along with the demo, gameplay, concept art and the plot of the game were leaked, as well as details about Marvel's Spider-Man 3, the Venom project and a list of future PlayStation exclusives, including an action game about the X-Men.
Users who prefer pirated versions of games may soon have a universal solution to bypass protection mechanisms like Denuvo.
