Events begin at the inn "White Heron". An icy wind ruffled Mei's hair in a wintery way, and then climbed under her collar. It became uncomfortable and unsettling. She thought about checking the luggage and getting back to Lady Sumiko as soon as possible.

Chilly shivering, the girl quickly went to the wagon, on which she arrived with her mentor. There were several more covered carts in the yard, apparently arriving later. A fire was lit nearby, soldiers were sitting around. The evening twilight cast shadows on the faces, making them unpleasant and rough. Mei noticed that the man on the left side had two swords, which meant he was a samurai.

As she passed, she lowered her gaze. They called her.

Samurai:

• Wait.

Mei turned around, bowing in respect. The samurai asked the girl to take a flask and give "him" a drink. And only after these words the girl noticed: beyond the circle of the world, on one of the wagons, there was a cage in which there was a shackled man. Too light for this weather, the clothes were dirty and torn in some places. His shackled hands were crusted with gore. But evil eyes burned brightly in his pale face. The girl, as if with a needle, pricked the tenacious gaze of the prisoner.

May thought:

• Haughty pride, as if he were not in a cage. Maybe a killer?

Suddenly a samurai called out to her:

• Hey, didn't you hear what I said?

Now you have to make your first choice. As always, decisions must be made wisely, as each of them will affect the story to some extent.

Choose what Mei should say: "I'm sorry sir...

• I'm afraid. "What?!" the samurai responded.
• I am now. One of the warriors held out a flask. It's stupid to argue with the samurai, Mei thought.

Both options will eventually lead you to the hall. But in the first case, you will meet the ronin (who will stand up for Mei), and in the second, you will talk to the captive.

Option 1 - I'm afraid

The prisoner smiled venomously. The chained man seemed to Mei so terrible that she, not realizing what she was doing, disobeyed the samurai. One of the warriors jumped up, clutching the hilt of his sword. Life hung in the balance, the girl fell to her knees. My heart was beating fast. The blade, already raised to strike, stopped the voice.

Samurai:

• No. Leave her. I'm not angry. Why shouldn't a woman be afraid? Our prisoner is indeed dangerous.

The samurai signaled to his soldier:

• Once he got up, give him water. The criminal must not die before we bring him to the city. to execution. A sticky look slid over Mei's body.

Samurai:

• And you come here, sit next to me. For the saved head, you will serve me differently.

The offender winked at the girl. As far as the cage would allow, he shifted so that Mei did not obscure the samurai from him.

• I say shame on me. I was caught by the wretched blind.

From the direction of the stable came the voice of a stranger.

• Let her go.
• Insolent, did not consider who he was talking to ?! Doesn't seem to be blind. So just stupid?

The stranger calmly approached the fire. Everyone paid attention to his sword, after which the samurai asked:

• I have no desire to talk to you.

The stranger shrugged.

• I understand, but it's not about the girl. Don't be mad at her, sir. She did not obey only because the role of a servant is not too unusual for her. She is a maiko. Geisha apprentice. I bet her mentor is in the house.

The stranger nodded toward the windows of the inn. The samurai looked at Mei as if seeing for the first time.

From behind it sounded contemptuously (prisoner):

• The cretins are uncouth, it can be seen from the clothes - the collar is red.

To which the samurai replied:

• Shut your mouth if you want to keep your head for a few more days.

Ronin:

Ronin nodded to Mei and walked towards the house, she hurried to her wagon. After making sure that the driver was watching the luggage, the girl quickly returned to the hall.

Option 2 - I am now

With horror in wide-open eyes, Kyo Sugai crawled back to the door. Mei turned her head, trying to see what had scared him so.

She jumped up and for some reason immediately fell down. The man looked directly at the girl. Trying to get up again, the maiko suddenly realized that something was wrong with her. The girl turned into a fox.

Without taking his eyes off her, the daimyo's adviser groped for the door, opened it, and rushed away. Adapting to her four paws surprisingly quickly, Mei managed to stand up. It was strange to look at the world from below, from the height of a fox. And scary. The fluffy tail that appeared nervously shuddered and froze, pressing against its hind legs. In the corridor someone was shouting, calling the guards.

• Lady Sumiko! I'm not a witch! What's happening?

Instead of words, animal growls escaped. The frightened maiko huddled in the corner of the room, almost fainting from fear. There was a heavy clatter, and Mr. Sugai's bodyguard burst into the chamber. I've been bewitched, May decided.

Once in a while there is a fork in history. The path that the heroine will take depends on what you have accumulated more: Passion or Cold.

Path of Passion

One of them raised a blade. "No," Mei said to herself. Mei recoiled, dodging instinctively. The steel cut through the thin wall. Realizing that they would kill her now, the fox jumped out into the gap! She swept through the geisha house, where she spent almost her entire life. Hearing the sounds of the chase, she jumped through the window, and, surrounded by slivers of broken shutters, disappeared into the night.

Path of Cold

Assessing the situation, Mei rushed forward. Steel sliced through the air above her head. Lisitsv knocked the man down, ran past his taken aback comrades into the corridor. She rushed to the exit of the geisha house, where she had spent almost her entire life. To the screech of frightened women, Mei pushed the door to the street with her hairy side, and, hearing the sounds of the chase behind her, disappeared into the night.

Note . Here is a very interesting point. In the first series, there are two choices, adding Cold or Passion. If you have 1 Cold and Passion each, the game will still choose Passion Path. Thus, to get the Path of Cold, you will have to choose two options that add Cold.
