According to Neil Harris, for the first time in the history of the TV show, the main character will become gay. This role will be played by actor Shuti Gatwa. The sci-fi TV show will air in 2023.

Recall that information about the change of the actor appeared on the network in May this year. It was also reported that showrunner Chris Chibnall would leave the project. In his place will return Russell T. Davis, who led the series from 2005 to 2010.
