James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli continues to talk about how the search for the next 007 is going. In particular, the woman revealed the details of negotiations with Idris Elba.
Last year's No Time To Die was Daniel Craig's fifth and last as James Bond. Rumors have been circulating for a long time about who could take over the baton from Craig. The names that came up most often were Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill and Idris Elba.
During The Deadline Podcast, Barbara stated:
We are familiar with Idris, I am friends with him. This is a great actor. We discussed this point with him, but it was difficult to negotiate while someone [Craig] was still in this position. We all decided that until No Time To Die was over, we wanted to enjoy Daniel's presence without wanting to think or talk about anyone else, actors who could play roles, or possible storylines. About anything else. We just want to live in the moment.
In 2021, Barbara said that before discussing who could be the next 007, we need to wait a bit until the dust settles on Craig's Bond.
We want to give Daniel a "moment of glory". Next year we will start thinking about what will happen next.
Thus, the search for the actor will begin this year. At the moment, one can only speculate about who will become the next agent.
The success of the title is quite expected.
