Tobey Maguire has spoken about his return to the iconic role in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The actor played Peter Parker in Sam Raimi's original, long-completed trilogy. Perhaps everyone has already forgotten about him. However, after much speculation, Maguire returned to play the hero in the multiverse crossover No Way Home, also starring Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield.
In an interview published on the official Spider-Man YouTube channel, Maguire explained why he decided to return to the long-forgotten role.
This immediately intrigued me. In that conversation [with Sony producer Amy Pascal and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige] the intent, the love, and the attempt to popularize the film was clear. It was clear that they meant a lot to Amy and Kevin. As for me […] I wanted to be a part of what was planned.
I'm a big fan of Tom, the movie series and Andrew. It was definitely intriguing… Although it was really about getting together with these people and looking at what was part of my history. There are also personal reasons that served as a reason for rethinking. Not quite sure how to put it right...
No Way Home became one of the highest-grossing films of all time. It even launched a Zack Snyder Justice League-style campaign calling for a fourth Sam Raimi film. Who knows, this may not be the last time we see Maguire as Spider-Man.
The success of the title is quite expected.
New heroes, new challenges.
Deadpool's world is dying.
No release date for the adaptation has been given yet.
