New Twisted Metal created by the developers of Destruction AllStars

It is reported that the development of a new Twisted Metal game for the PlayStation 5 is being developed by the Lucid Games studio, which created the Destruction AllStars game of a similar genre. In addition, there is information about the approximate release date - 2023, which coincides with the entrance of the TV show of the same name, which we were told about back in 2019.

According to VGC , the creation of the first Twisted Metal game after such a long pause (over 10 years) was entrusted to the Liverpool studio, and now the project is still in the early stages of development. An anonymous source told VGC that the new Twisted Metal will be based on a free-to-play model.

The studio's latest game, the vehicular battler Destruction AllStars, originally retailed for $69.99, but after a backlash from the public, was eventually made available for free as part of a PS Plus giveaway. The game was free for all subscribers of the service for two months! In April, the digital version of the game was released for $19.99, while physical copies went on sale a day later. A source told VGC that this transition is one of the main reasons why Twisted Metal could become a free-to-play game.
