Epic Games is considering creating an entertainment division, which in turn could contribute to the film adaptation of Fortnite .
On October 11, the news was first reported by TheInformation , which highlighted that major video game publisher and developer Epic Games plans to expand into the "video script programming business." According to Matthew Olson, Epic is actively discussing a movie adaptation of Fortnite that will be part of this expansion.
As Olson points out, this could be part of Epic's efforts to expand its "metaverse". In addition, TheInformation report says Epic sees this move as a real expansion opportunity, while access to the mobile market is blocked by the efforts of Apple and Google, both of which have filed their own lawsuits against mobile Fortnite.
And if that movie ever comes out, it'll be interesting to see what the company does with all the crossover content from other games. Fortnite has seen a significant increase in crossovers over the past year. Marvel and DC characters have appeared in the game, such superstars as Travis Scott and Ariana Grande, numerous skins of famous personalities and so on.
As far as movie adaptations of games in general are concerned, Illumination is currently working on a Super Mario movie that will be released next year.
The success of the title is quite expected.
New heroes, new challenges.
Deadpool's world is dying.
No release date for the adaptation has been given yet.
