According to We Got This Covered , the upcoming Batman is likely to feature the Joker. The new head of Gotham's underworld may be Stanley Merkel, who in the first film by Matt Reeves is an ordinary cop. His role is played by Barry Keoghan (The Eternals, Druig).

Barry's brother, Eric commented on a post by a fan of the character. According to him, he is glad that his brother will play the role of a villain. No official statements have been made yet.
