Review of The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe - a worthy "sequel"

We talk about the expanded edition, the content of which would be quite suitable for a sequel
Review of The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe - a worthy "sequel"

Review of The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe

Let's start with the fact that the original The Stanley Parable was released back in 2013 and earned a lot of positive reviews. She deserved it. Not distinguished by some incredible design solutions, made on the Source engine, it won the hearts of many critics and gamers thanks to its unusual approach.

The whole point of The Stanley Parable is that you listen to the Narrator, first do what he asks for, and then "hammer the bolt" and do whatever you want. And step by step you discover new, more exciting and at the same time paradoxical endings.

Endings are the heart of the game

And in getting endings, most of which can safely be called secret, the whole point of the game. Now think about it. In the original game, there were 19 of them. There were also rumors about a certain 20th ending, but, unfortunately, no one found it. Perhaps it doesn't exist at all. Outside is 2022. It would seem that in 9 years it was possible to make a new game. And so they did.

The game had 19 endings, and now there are 41. They added 22 endings at once. Although they are a variation of the previous ones (in part), they are still backed up by the Narrator's humor and some nonsense that worked both in 2013 and now.

I don't want to spoil too much, but I'll be brief. To move on to new content, you must get one ending for each door - left and right. For example, you can listen to the Storyteller to the end, and in the next run go through the right door and get any ending. Most importantly, do not return to the negotiation room.

Then a new door will appear, which you will find on the way to the room with two doors. And here the most interesting begins. For starters, you'll see a memory room that's jam-packed with… attention… reviews of the game. The first reviews are from well-known publications (for example, GameSpot), which praise the game. On this note, perhaps, 99% of developers would stop, but not the authors of The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. A little later, Stanley stumbles upon reviews from Steam. For negative reviews. And then the self-irony begins. However, it is more than enough in the game.

Visual improvements

The game has been significantly improved visually as well. Moved to new engine. It looks simple, but tasteful ... The voice acting of the Narrator is on top.

The Stanley Parable 2?

Yes, I would boldly call this game The Stanley Parable 2. Especially at the end, when you get to the last endings, some essence is revealed, and then there is a bold hint of a sequel. I don't know if it will be The Stanley Parable 2 or The Stanley Parable 3. It doesn't matter. We need more The Stanley Parable.

I do not want to stretch the review. The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe will appeal to anyone who enjoyed the original game. It has a lot more content than you think, and it would be enough for the second part. The price tag is small, so go ahead, on Steam, for shopping. The project is also available for consoles.
