How to revive Virginia or Calvin in Sons of the Forest

Companions can be resurrected, but you will have to tinker with the game files.

How to resurrect Kelvin or Virginia in Sons of the Forest

It is impossible to revive a companion in the game in a normal way. If one of them is lost, this happens until the end of the game. However, there is a trick described below.

Given that this involves modifying game files, we strongly recommend that you back up all files before making any changes to them. This way, if something goes wrong, you can restore the original unedited game files.

Step by step guide to revive your companion in Sons of the Forest:

First of all, find the game files on your PC. They should be in the folder: > Users > [User] > AppData > LocalLow > Endnight > Sons of the Forest > Saves. If not, find Endnight on your PC so you don't mix up the Sons of the Forest folders.
In this folder, find a file called 'GameStateSaveData.json' in the Notepad application on your PC.
When Kelvin spawns, change the text "IsRobbyDead\":true to "IsRobbyDead\":false and save. When respawning Virginia, change the text "IsVirginiaDead\":true to "IsVirginiaDead\":false and save.
Then find the file called 'SaveData.json' and open it with Notepad.
If you're resurrecting Kelvin , look for text that reads "TypeId\":9 and look for “\”State\”:6” right below it. Change it to "State\"2".
Then find the text right n??before it, which reads “Health\”:0.0”, change it to “Health\”:100.0” and save.
If you're resurrecting Virginia , look for the text "TypeId\":10 and look for “\”State\”:6” right below it. Change it to “State\”2”
Then find the text “Health\”:0.0” change to “Health\”:100.0” and save.
Close everything and launch Sons of the Forest. If all goes well, Calvin and/or Virginia will return alive as if nothing happened.
It's worth noting that Virginia may not appear immediately, as she must come and find you again.
