To make a door in Sons of the Forest , first lay down some logs to create a wall. Once you've done that, equip any axe. Point it at the wall to see a rectangle of red dotted lines, as in the screenshot below:
Click LMB to cut a vertical gap in the wall, the width of the future door. Repeat for each wall log to create the door frame.
Then take two logs and use the ax to split them in two vertically.
Pick up the split logs and go to the doorframe to see a white arrow pointing up. Click LMB to place the log cut in half. Repeat three times to make a door. There is no need for hinges or any additional materials or buildings. To open a door, simply go through it.
